What Kind Of Speakers Can I Buy For A Small Screen Hdtv With Digital Audio Output?

I just bought a 26″ sharp lcd hdtv. The picture is fine, but the speakers are very disappointing. the tv does have a digital output audio. what kind of external speakers/woofers are compatible with this tv? what components will be needed? i reckon a conventional computer speaker wouldn’t work.
